This page will provide a "cheat sheet" to aid with template creation in TRAKnet 3.0.

Template Management Cheat Sheet

Due to popular demand and frequent questions please find below a guide to quickly managing and editing your templates.

Managing Templates

  1. To access the template management window, click on the (User Name) drop-down menu in the upper right-hand portion of TRAKnet. Then click “Manage Templates.”
  2. Examples of templates that can be managed:
    1. Practice Header
    2. Encounter Forms
    3. Dashboards
    4. Patient Education
  3. To delete a template:
    1. Select the template type.
    2. Select the template to delete.
    3. Click “Select”
    4. Click “Delete”
    5. This will delete the template from your database for all users.
  4. To move a template to a new folder:
    1. Select the Template Type.
    2. Select the template to reorganize.
    3. Click “Folder” drop down menu and select the new folder.
    4. Click Update Template.
    5. This template will now be found in that folder.

Tips for Creating and Customizing Templates

Encounter Templates

Multiple Choice Fields:

  1. Place your cursor in the location in the note you would like to insert the field.
  2. Click “Select Multiple Options” from the Fields tab on the right-hand side of the screen.
  3. This will open a pop up box.
  4. Type into the pop up box your desired choices, separated by a comma.
    1. For example: white, red, green, orange, blue
  5. Click OK.
  6. The Choice Field will default to the item listed first.
    1. In this example, the default will be “White”
    2. This option differs from Single Choice as multiple options may be selected.

Single Choice Fields:

  1. Place your cursor in the location in the note you would like to insert the field.
  2. Click “Select One Option” from the Fields tab on the right-hand side of the screen.
  3. This will open a pop up box.
  4. Type into the pop up box your desired choices, separated by a comma.
    1. For example: white, red, orange, blue, green
  5. Click OK.
  6. The Choice Field will default to the item listed first.
    1. In this example, the default will be “White”
    2. This option differs from Multiple Choice as only one option may be selected.

Check Boxes:

  1. Check boxes can be used to check off a specific item but still show all other items.
  2. Place your cursor into the location in the note you would like to insert the field.
  3. Click “Multiple Checkboxes” from the Fields tab on the right-hand side of the screen.
  4. This will open a pop up box.
  5. Type into the pop up box your desired choices, separated by a comma.
    1. For example: white, black, gray, green
  6. Click OK.
  7. This will then list all items in a row, with a check box before each selection.

Embedding a Mini Template

  1. Place your cursor into the location in the note you would like to insert the field.
  2. Click “Template Picker” from the Fields tab on the right-hand side of the screen.
  3. This will open a pop up box.
  4. Select the Template Type from the first drop down box.
    1. For example: HPI to insert a second subjective
  5. Select the mini-template you would like to insert
    1. For example: Ankle Sprain
  6. Click “Select” to insert the mini template.
  7. This can be used to create multiple subjectives for one template.

Embedding CPT Codes

  1. Place your cursor into the location in the note you would like to insert the code.
  2. Type in the CPT code in [brackets]
    1. For example: [99212]
    2. CPT codes are the only links or fields that can be manually typed. All others must be selected from their respective drop-down menus.
  3. Upon using this template, the verbiage behind the code will pull over.
  4. The code will also enter the invoice.

Creating a Custom Field

  1. From the navigational menu on the right-hand side of the Manage Templates window, click on Custom Fields.
  2. Click Manage Fields.
  3. Click Add and name your custom field.
  4. Click Add/Edit Values and list all values you would like to choose from when using this custom field, separated by a comma.
  5. Click Save.
  6. The custom field will now be available on the Custom Field tab and can be used in Encounter Forms, Dashboards, etc.
