Creating a SmartSheet

What is a SmartSheet?

A SmartSheet is the key component of SmartSheet10 Technology. SmartSheets are a tool that will allow your office to create a list of commonly used ICD-10 codes, either based on the ICD-9 codes already being used by your office or manually from the ICD-10 Index, allowing for ease of access when needed most. There are a variety of methods in which to build a SmartSheet:

SmartConvert, a tool that will automatically generate a SmartSheet with all ICD-10 codes related to a list of ICD-9 codes that you enter.

Manually, by using ICD-9 to ICD-10 GEMs to search the Index of ICD-10 codes and manually save them.

From a list of codes entered in to the ICD-9 to ICD-10 GEMs, browsing each code and adding them one by one. This option is a mix between the two above methods and is detailed below.

Creating a SmartSheet

To begin, click on the I want to: dropdown menu and select the "New SmartSheet from a list of codes" option.

To find the equivalent ICD-10 code for each ICD-9 code, click the "ICD10>" button on each. This will open that I10 code in the index. Once you review the code to ensure it is what you are truly looking for, you can add that code to a SmartSheet by clicking on the code in the I10 list and clicking the "Add to SmartSheet10" button in the upper right-hand corner.

This will open the Favorite Codes screen, where information regarding the ICD-9 and ICD-10 code you have just selected will appear. This will pre-populate based on your selections.

To add a code, select the Category, or SmartSheet, you would like to add this code to from the dropdown menu at the top of the screen. To create a SmartSheet on the fly, simply type a new SmartSheet name into the blank dropdown menu.

Once you have reviewed this information and selected your SmartSheet, you must add this SmartSheet to your favorites. There are two options:

  • Add to Practice Favorites — This SmartSheet will be available to all users in the software.
  • Add to My Favorites — This SmartSheet will be available to only your user.

Accessing Created SmartSheets

You can access your SmartSheet at any time under the I want to: dropdown menu with the Edit an Existing SmartSheet option.
