Average Charges By Ins Class

The Average Charges by Insurance Class and Provider is an Advanced Report that shows, by insurance type codes, the average charges per each provider. This is broken down further by Primary averages and Secondary averages and is based on all charges entered into an encounter in the date range.


This report shows the average charges by provider by insurance type code. The columns on this report are:

  • Provider — The name of the provider.
  • Primary Average — The average of the charges on encounters where the primary insurance matches the Insurance Type Code set under Filters on this report. For example, if CI - Commercial Insurance is set under Filters, then the report will look at all encounters where the primary insurance is CI, add the total charges, and divide by the number of charges to find the average.
  • Secondary Average — The same as primary average but for secondary insurances.

While there is no comparable report in TRAKnet for this data, navigating to Billing Dashboard > Encounters, setting filters to match the report (date range, provider filter, and Primary Insurance filters) will provide the data that is being averaged.


  • Graph - The top of the report is a bar graph that will show per provide the average charges per each primary and secondary insurance during a set date range. Each provider will have two bars: one for primary and one for secondary. The Y axis will be the providers in the system. The X axis will be the average amounts.
  • Table - The bottom of the report will display a table which contains the provider, primary average, and secondary average.


This report has two filters:

  • Start Date - The starting date for the report. This will default to today's date.
  • End Date - The ending date for the report. This will default to today's date.
